Caddie Program

Ekwanok was designed to be a walking course with caddies, and caddies remain to this day an integral part of the Club’s golf culture. Indeed, we are proud and at the same time sad of the fact that Ekwanok is the last remaining course in Vermont with a caddie program. Our caddie yard is made up of mostly local high school and college students mixed in with some veteran caddies.  We believe you will have a very pleasant experience walking or riding the course with a caddie to assist you.

Each year, a small group of new caddies are welcomed to the program.  The training and golf instruction as well as the mentoring initiatives help to enhance the academic achievement and life skills of the area youth and open doors to college scholarships, business connections and jobs.  Caddies are trained in all aspects of the game, including etiquette, yardages, green reading, club rules and the history of Ekwanok.  All caddies are offered optional educational workshop opportunities throughout the summer.  The goal of these workshops is to help students plan and prepare for their post-secondary education.    All caddies that have met the minimum requirements, (two years in the program with at least 40 days of availability and at least 20 rounds caddied), are eligible for a scholarship through the Ekwanok Scholarship Trust.
